Taxidermy – the act of fabricating life from death – is a violent, and at times grotesque process not too dissimilar to the making of musical instruments. Fibers bend and tear as skin is stretched across drums; wood creaks and strains as gut strings are suspended and tightened. Through destruction, we imitate life.
